TEACHER TESTIMONIALS

  • Katie C

I´m nothing like the teacher I was before I worked at Premier. The professional development you get is second to none as well as the fantastic experience of working in a great team with like-minded, motivated people. It has been an invaluable, unforgettable experience. Thank you Premier!

I chose Premier as I was promised that the school invested in, and developed, its teachers. I´ve got exactly what I was promised and more and I´ve become a better teacher than I could have ever imagined. And while we are unified in the Premier ethos, we are given the freedom to implement it in our own style.

The town is what I expected. I didn`t want to go somewhere touristy. At school there are loads of opportunities to learn and develop as a teacher, but you obviously have to be prepared to put in the hard work! I`m really pleased with how much I`ve learnt particularly about teaching children.

I`m from a small town and there`s a lot more happening here than there. Utrera has everything you need and it`s really Spanish. As for the school, I enjoy working in a professional environment where development is encouraged and supported.

My year at Premier has really benefitted me as a teacher. The folder I`m taking with me is bursting with new ideas that have worked in the classroom and I know I`ll use again and again. You`d go a long way before meeting a nicer couple running any school and the kids are a joy to teach. The town itself is lovely and wonderfully Spanish, while the people are as warm as the weather!

  • Jemima C

Overall, it has been a very stimulating, valuable and enjoyable time but by no means easy! What I consider most special about Premier is its combined ethos of professionalism and a person-centred approach. Everything is done with care and consideration. Individuals are treated as such and aspirations to improve and evolve are the foundation of the school.

  • Rebecca T

The 3 years I spent at Premier provided me with many opportunities to further develop my teaching skills, in a friendly and dynamic atmosphere, working alongside other dedicated staff. The school is well resourced and the students are enthusiastic and keen to learn. I enjoyed living in a typical Spanish town and, during my spare time, visiting the local area. It’s an excellent place to start or to continue your career in TEFL.

I feel I have progressed enormously as a teacher during my year teaching at Premier. The in-house training as well as external conferences I attended gave me plenty of fresh ideas. It has been a fun place to work as there`s always a lively atmosphere. The school is just around the corner from the main plaza which is perfect for after work drinks and food. Sevilla is easily accessible by train and there are a lot of amazing places to discover within reach. If I hadn`t fallen pregnant, I`d have stayed another year!

UTRERA

With a population of just over 50.000, Utrera is a fast growing town about 30km south of Seville. It is considered one of the homes of Flamenco music as well as the fighting bull. In fact, one of the most important Flamenco festivals in Spain is held here and has attracted many well-known flamenco artists in the past such as Joaquin Cortes.

Utrera is also a town of great historic interest which stretches back to the 13th century. Archaelogical work shows people have lived on the site since pre-Roman times. Today, the town`s chapels, dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries, churches and 14th century castle are popular tourist attractions for visitors to Andalucía who prefer to veer off the beaten track.

Utrera is also famous for its numerous festivities, particularly the fair which is celebrated in September during our induction week, and the Easter week processions. Both of these attract many people from all over the province.

As one student said, Utrera has all the facilities you would expect in a city but with the conveniences of a town. There are a variety of good tapas bars and restaurants, pubs, gyms, a swimming pool, a bowling alley, a theatre and 2 small shopping centres. There`s also an array of cultural and musical events organised by various local organisations. Utrera is in actual fact famous in the region for organising concerts by alternative bands.

It is within easy reach of Seville with a regular cheap train service (approximately 8€ for a day return).

ACCOMMODATION

There are furnished flats and houses available to rent in the area and these vary in price from 350€ to 450€ depending on size and location.

COST OF LIVING
Generally speaking, Utrera is cheaper than Seville in terms of eating and dining out. There are a number of good tapas bars where a meal can cost between 10€ and 15€ while a beer costs about 1€.
